There’s a tree on the west side of Lake Harriet (Minneapolis) that is quite special. Years ago a small door appeared in the lower trunk of large tree along one of the cities most popular bike and walking paths. Small notes and personal gifts were being left by passersby. If you leave a note, it will be answered by the occupant. If you leave a gift, you will be given a gift in return. Whoa. There has to be a small troll-like creature who lives there, right? And that’s what makes this simple idea so great. It has inspired a whole community.

As I was “running” around the lake this past weekend, I was passing the troll door and decided to snap this picture. It always reminds me of the power of imagination.
